Hi, my name is Jacqueline Coy and I’m one of Sophie Howard’s student. I came across Sophie’s course when I was scrolling through the internet, not exactly looking for anything, but I clicked on it because Sophie looked genuine and she wasn’t some glammed up person reading off the auto queue. She meant what she said. I have been published before by a large traditional publishing house, but it’s not what I wanted, simply because unless you sell really huge volumes, you don’t make much money from publishing by a big publisher because the royalties are tiny. But more than anything, it didn’t give me any satisfaction. Creatively, I love writing. I just am passionate about it, about creating beautiful pictures with words, and even though I don’t work as a writer. So when I came across Sophie course, I developed everything and I followed the steps. And in three months, in three months, this is what I’ve produced. I have launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, which got this book, a hardback published. It’s called The Handbook for Budding Little Gardeners, A Complete Guide To Gardening With Children. There’s also a storybook, I’m Autistic, and this book is for other children who are autistic like me and their siblings, about helping them manage their big emotions. It’s called Roll and a Mindful Cheese Plant. And to go with that, I had cards designed and a poster, and I’ve built a website called Cheese Plant Books as in cheese, plant books.
And really all this came about because I did Sophie’s course literally four or five months ago. And one of the things I’ve learned that is really deep for me is that Sophie encourages to use the gig economy, and I’ve connected with really talented freelancers, one in Argentina and one in India. And I know that together, the three of us, we are a team now, and we are building something that benefits them tremendously too.
