I have now written my second 30,000 word book. My other books are work books and I would’ve never put all this in books if I hadn’t joined the program. I feel proud of what I’m doing, and I like the fact that my two daughters kind of look up to the fact that I’m writing and joke around about, “Mom, you’re a writer.” Like it feels good.
Hello, my name is Nicole Rice and I have been a high school teacher for the last 29 years here in Upstate New York. I had two things going around in my head when I came across Sophia Howard online. And I was just thinking how can I make extra money? Because my two daughters up and move to California for opportunities in their twenties. And when I retire in two years, I wanna be able to go see them anytime I want. And I just like the way Sophie said things. I like the way she made you feel like you could publish books like she was on Amazon and people would but them. So, I kind of started listening to Sophie and I said, this fits, this is what I wanna do. I want to take what I have done.
For the last 30 years, I had been keeping a journal about all my students and their backgrounds, so I could remember them and help them and help their parents. So I said, I can do this, I can take my journal, I can turn it into a book, and then maybe, just maybe, people from another part of the world would read it and be able to talk with their teens in a way that teens want to be talked to. I actually was calling myself an entrepreneur when I was writing the books. And I just thought, you know, everybody has something they know that someone else doesn’t know, so this is the type of course, and the type of people that encourage you to share that and write about it, do it, and then share it with other people. I felt like I was, I don’t know a better me and that’s what I want other people to feel too.
I joined the KX10 program in March 2021, and three months later, I had my first book up on Amazon and I tried to make it kind of fun for parents to read ‘cause sometimes it can be a little bit like challenging to talk to your teenager. So it’s called, “Does your teen Talk?” “No, but they Text, Snap, and Tiktok?” A few months later, a picture from a book club in New Jersey who were there all getting together and reading my book over wine. I was on the bestseller list in Amazon in the high school category. I have been three times in the number nine spot and the number ten spot on parenting which is a little bit more competitive. I have now written my second 30,000 word book “The Seven Simple Habits for a Better Day.” My other books are workbooks and I would’ve never put all this in books if I hadn’t joined the program. And yeah, I’m in my fifties and I’m doing something new, and I don’t want my life to pass by without reaching people farther than just my little small town where there’s about 400 people in it. And there’s no traffic lights and you have to drive an hour to get groceries. Like it’s pretty cool that being online on Amazon, you can reach people. I have a couple people that bought my book in the UK and I like that.
